Shifu-The New Browser Game Worth Trying

Since westernization has become a globalizing trend in the world, now many online games tend to be designed in a Western way. However, with the rise of Asian culture in recent years, onlines games themed with what has been called "the mysterious Oriental culture" have been growing more and more popular. So this time let's try some different stuffs. Let's take a look at this traditional Chinese culturally designed browser game, Shifu.

Browser game Shifu Review

Background of the Game

As the game is based on three traditional Chinese Kung fu stories, The Legend of the Condor Heroes, Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre and The Condor Heroes Return, written by the famous Chinese Kung fu novelist, Louis Cha Leung-yung, widely known as Jin Yong. So if anyone has already read his books previously, he or she would be more familiar with the storyline and the roles of the game. Of course, all the places that have been described in Jin Yong's books will be presented in the game, such as Zhongnan Mountain, Passionless Valley and Taohua Island, etc. We, players, will be completing a series of main quests that are based on the original story.

Characters in Game

Browser game Shifu Review

Male and female characters are available for player to choose in Shifu. Actually both of these two gender also represent two kinds of class in game. According to the different use of weapon for both characters, male might be the broadsword master and female is sword master. The appearance of both gender is designed on the basis of traditional Chinese Kung fu novels and movies, in which men are more likely to be more domineering and ladies look more elegant and resplendent. This design of characters would allow players to strengthen their sense of identification and immersion in game.

I would like to give a brief introduction of the characteristics of both classes. The male character seems to be better at defence and physical skills, which is defined as "external power" by Chinese Kung fu practisers. He would more probably be a "tank" as he has more bonus on health points and armour compared to the female one. The range of male's attack is pretty wide based on his skills and weapon, a broadsword. On the other hand, the female character is more likely to play magic skills, called "internal power" in many traditional Chinese Kung fu stories. Sword is mainly used as the principal weapon by the female in game. However, compared to the male one, using sword to attack would reduce the range of skills but can do more damage on one target and the female's viability in game would be relatively lower than the male.

UI and Music

                      Browser game Shifu Review

The feature of Chinese legends, such as Chinese fairy culture and the concept of Chinese god, is well represented by the UI and the music in game. In terms of the UI, compared to other games of the same type, it looks rather bright-coloured and simply clear that players would experience the graphic and visual pleasure. For its music, although there are not a lot of background soundtracks, the quality of each soundtrack is not bad at all. The music in game is play mostly by traditional Chinese instruments such as flute, Dizi and Guqin, which strengthens the Chinese feature of the game.

The Difficulty of the Game

Like some other online ARPGs, it is quite easy and fast for fresh players to level above 20 by following the guidance for novice players. If you are a fan of this type of game and have a lot of experience of playing, there shouldn't be any problems at the beginning. After achieving the level 30, a new system in game will be unlocked. It is like a "raid" system. The content and scene of each scenario are based on the plots of Chinese Kung fu stories. It's something featured in the game. Of course each scenario can be entered over and over again but just don't forget to reset them after finishing a raid. Actually, when players go beyond the level 30, it might not be sufficient for gaining more experience points simply completing quests. So the system of "on-hook". This function allows players to kill monsters without having to sit in front of their computer. This system is quite humanised. Players can modify the setting according to the level of their characters. It is recommended to choose a place where the monsters have 3 or 5 levels higher than our character but it should be based on our items. Players who have better items would better improve themselves by killing more powerful monsters in order to gain more experience.

Conclusion

To sum up, there are still a lot of featured systems in Shifu, such as adventure mode, lucky wheel, disciple system and mount. For those who like challenging themselves in game, there are some powerful bosses to be killed and which provide a large amount of reward. However, practicing would tell how all these features are played out so let's play Shifu now!

Making Money by Playing Online Games

From nine to five, seven days a week, Robert Schill plays video games while sitting on a plush, brown sofa in central Florida. Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people watch. His web channel has more than 35 million hits in one year.

And Schill gets paid for it. He's a shift worker, a laborer in a brave and strange new economy that rewards a Big Brother-like existence combined with entrepreneurial pluck.

Schill's not alone in this venture, not even in his own home. When the 26-year-old ginger-haired Schill finishes his shift, he unplugs his game controller and his roommate, 29-year-old Adam Young, sinks into the sofa and plays until 1 a.m. Then a third roommate, Brett Borden, 26, clocks in for his eight-hour shift.

They are the stars of StreamerHouse. They broadcast via Twitch.tv, an online network that attracts tens of millions of visitors, most of whom watch footage of other people playing video games.

StreamerHouse is set in a 1920s-era Mediterranean-revival home graced with 20 cameras, at least 15 computer screens and two bulldogs (Mister Pig and Baby Pig). It's part reality TV, part talk radio and part performance art. The trio play games, chat with fans and narrate their daily lives into an expensive microphone setup.

They make money from a cut of Twitch advertising, subscriptions, video game sales and from fan donations. In October, one admirer from the Middle East gave StreamerHouse $6,000.

StreamerHouse capitalizes on a cultural moment that demands engagement and intimacy with everyone from celebrities tweeting pictures of their newborns to friends and family posting Facebook photos of breakfast. The StreamerHouse guys deliver with an intimate, non-stop show where they interact with fans in real time.

There's something genius about this.

"I live on the internet, man," joked Schill, known as "The Real Deal," and "Rober" online. His fans recently sent him a guitar and a memory foam mattress. Fans routinely send pizzas, candy and t-shirts. All three "streamers" admit their career prospects would be bleak outside the house. None have college degrees and all have been gaming since they were boys.

Twitch has more than 7,000 similar streamers in its affiliate program — which means the game players receive ad revenue and can solicit donations — although StreamerHouse's 24/7 broadcast is unique.

There's an appetite to watch gamers. YouTube's most subscribed channel belongs to Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, a Swede known online as PewDiePie. He is a video game commentator, much like the StreamerHouse guys, and has over 32 million subscribers.

"It has become a very substantial piece of the entertainment landscape," said Matthew Di Pietro, vice president of marketing at Twitch. "We've seen it explode."

And before you dismiss the appeal of watching a guy on a sofa shoot virtual zombies, consider this: people have been watching other people do stuff for millennia. Roman gladiators. Horse races. The Super Bowl.

"There's something enjoyable about watching someone overcome a challenge," said Austin Walker, a doctoral student at the University of Western Ontario who is studying the intersection between work and play.

"Gaming content production" — essentially, playing video games — is now a viable career.

"That's the dream we all have at 12 years old," said Walker. "It's a lot of hard work. A lot of preparation, behind the scenes, community issues. At a certain point, once it becomes something that can pay you, it also becomes a responsibility."

Top streamers can make six figures a year, said Di Pietro, while many earn only a few dollars a month. The StreamerHouse guys are reluctant to discuss their take, but say they've earned enough to cover monthly house expenses and not have debt from the tens of thousands of dollars of electronic equipment powering the live broadcasts. They also bought a new Jeep Liberty and had fans vote on their license plate. (It says "VIRGINS.")

StreamerHouse started as an idea between a group of friends, including Ryan Carmichael and Randy Borden. Both grew up in Lakeland in Central Florida and were interested in gaming and television. Carmichael, also known as "Tree," played video games live on Twitch's predecessor, Justin.tv. Borden owned a local community access television studio and the giant Mediterranean home.

Carmichael and Borden initially conceived of the project as a reality TV web series: what would happen if you put a few guys in a house, had them play video games nonstop and videotaped their antics? They offered the gig to three people: Brett Borden, Randy's longhaired cousin from upstate New York; Young, a former ATV aficionado who broke his neck while riding and came from Washington state with his two bulldogs; and Schill, a recovering agoraphobic from Pennsylvania. Only Young and Schill had streamed before; Borden loved video games and was hanging out and helping to get the house ready.

"It was more of a joke at the time," said Carmichael who lives in the home and acts as the house manager, public relations director, IT guy and fill-in gamer.

StreamerHouse went live in September of 2013. The main stream showed the game being played, while smaller windows on the screen showed live video of the on-duty gamer and footage from a handful of the other cameras in the home.

That turned out to be a bit too intimate. "We lost a lot of privacy," said Carmichael.

Now, they broadcast just the game and the gamer. Only on special occasions — when there are visitors or when the roommates gave candy to hundreds of kids on Halloween — they fire up the cameras around the house. They also feature edited videos of their antics on their YouTube site; some non-gaming clips show them cooking, walking around their historic neighborhood and the time a fan sent $2,100 in pizza and other food to the house. (That video received 70,000 views).

Two downstairs rooms are devoted to the stream. One has four desks holding 12 computer screens. The main gaming server is nestled in the stone fireplace and cables snake along the walls. Here the roommates play games when they're not on the stream, interact with fans, check email and social media.

The other room is the studio, where the on-duty gamer sits for eight hour shifts in front of a laptop and two large TV screens. One controls the game, the other shows the Twitch chat feed.

The guys cleaned the house when an Associated Press crew visited recently, but forgot to for an earlier visit when it was casually littered with Mountain Dew cans, bags of candy, pizza on the kitchen counter and overflowing ash trays on the porch (there's no smoking inside and some of the guys are trying to switch to e-cigarettes).

The guys caution they are not "professional-level gamers."

"We're too old," said Young, who has an impish smile and goes by the online nickname of Inigo Montoya, the character from the movie 'Princess Bride.' "It's like martial arts. The younger you start doing it, the better you are."

Yet they have found their niche as entertainers with a talk radio schtick: — jokes about sex, food and farting are commonplace.

StreamerHouse is unique because the trio tries out different games. Lately, the game of choice has been Destiny, an online first-person shooter game in a sci-fi setting. Fans who want a deeper interactive experience can actually play online games with the StreamerHouse guys.

"It really is the first successful example of truly social video," said Di Pietro. "When you really sit down to think about it, it doesn't seem odd anymore."

If you are  a senior player, you can also create your own future through playing games. You may distinguish yourself in any trade.

Four Kinds of People are More Likely to Play Online Games

New games come out every day and you may wonder who on earth need to play online games? Playing online games are not only a way of resting but also the necessity for some people. As far as i can see, there are four kinds of people who are more likely to play games.

Firstly, people that are depressed in work. If the depression generated in work can't be released in time, the unhappiness will be daily on the increase. Going to work is just like going to grave can possibly result in mental diseases. In this situation, they need to play games if no one can help them face to face. This kind of people can get the feeling of accomplishment in the game through their own effort. They can also communicate in the game with the fellow players about playing strategy and so on. Then the depression in the work will be counteracted with the satisfaction in the game.

Secondly, people that are suffering from physical pains. Every time they feel painful in the body they need pain killer. Whereas, playing games just like using pain killer. As stated in my previous blog of Six Benefits of Playing Online Games, the Military hospitals found out that playing games can help soldiers recovering from their battlefield wounds quickly. People will forget the pain while they are absorbed in the game competition.

Thirdly, people that are single and in need of spouse. For various reasons, there are always people who are not convenient to find the life partner. For example, out of the working environment, all people around them are of the same gender. If playing games, they can amuse themselves at the same time looking for life partner that of the same interests.

Lastly, people that are working for game company. Playing all kinds of games should be part of life for game company employees. They need to know the game features, what players really need, the game trends and the competitors activities, etc. in the games. Not knowing the games well, how can do the market well?

In total, playing game for some people is not merely entertainment but also necessities. For more about  online game information, please pay close attention to : http://gameonwebs.blogspot.com/

Why the Man like Playing Games?

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of games. One is competitive game(electronic sports game).By cooperating with the team members, players can use their intelligence and unique strategy to conquer the rivals. The other is developing game. Players need to increase the grade gradually so as to make the game character more stronger.

Both of the two kind of games are what man really like. Back to real, man's world is full of competition and fight. What the society imposed on them is responsibility. To carry out the responsibility for families, friends even countries, they have to fight persistently. Once they stopped fighting, it's possibly people around them will lose the happy life.

why man like playing games?

The reality is all in all cruel so the virtual competitive world which can easily satisfy their vanity came into being. They just need to spare little effort compared with in the real world to perform their responsibility.

From other aspect, not every one can get the desired job and the purpose they work is to get the salary. During the game, they can freely choose who they want to be and what profession they like to go in for and designated who to be their partner. In the game, they won't ordered by others and they are their own master.

Do you still curious about why the man always obsessed with playing games? However, it should be kept controlled. The real strong man are who can balance well the real and virtual world.

Advertising-the Only Answer to Browser Games?

It's very common when discussing the struggling browser games that the view of "It would work better if only it has been advertised" comes out. Not only does this views exist in  browser games industry, but also almost every products has been related to advertisement.

It's certainly true that advertising helps a lot for games, but the answer is not as simple as that. Why does the game developers throw money on advertisements? How to modify the advertising effects? What are the reactions of gamers when they received the game advertising here and there?

advertising is not the only answer to brower games

When a new game is to be launched, the game developer needs to collect some of the related information like"How big does the audience will be " "Can the game bring enough profit for them" " Will the player be fond of  this game", etc.  The right developer, making the right game for the right market. Well, the advertisement can help the game developers.

Media partners or large gaming websites will be busy to release trailers and previews for the games since they have got dollars from developers. This can take many forms including pre-orders, page views, youtube views, comments etc. The games will be promoted throw all kinds of channels. Then the page views and unique visitors or other performance for the advertisement will be tracked. If the number presented is satisfactory, the developer would throw more money into advertising. On the contrary, they will take measures, for example, changing the game name or sound effects to let the game rush into the market again.

It seems that the developers are happy enough only if the advertising effects indicates to be satisfactory such as the pv and uv is high, the advertising page was hit a lot, the video targeted a large number of people, etc.  Although there are indeed many people got the game information, are you sure they will become the targeted players or they will take the further action? Maybe there are majority of people who received the game information  just -"passively" so they won't play games and they won't spent any, of course.  There are also potential players but how to define "potential"?

advertising to browser games

Never did i take action just because i have watched an advertisement. At most, from the repeated advertisements, i remembered the brands or products. What i think the main function of advertising is exposure which can just generate profit indirectly.

In total,  Advertising is not the only answer for browser games. It indeed helps but it's not worth throwing large amount of dollars on.  It's better to spent the money that in the first place arranged for placing advertising  on games themselves like reducing game price or imposing more benefits for player. The browser game developers and publishers shouldn't rely on completely on advertising since the audience is not precised but costly and the effect can't directly transferred into profit.

Don't Give People the Negative Energy in Games

No people want to be surrounded with negative energy. What we always need is encouragement. When we failed the examination, we prefer to get comfort like"It doesn't matter,it's enough that you have spared your efforts. Next time the result will be better." While if you were told "the examination is so hard, the teacher sucks a lot",it indicates that what you received is only complaint and then you will never get improvement from it.

Why we play games? Most people find that's a good way to release themselves. In the games, they can be far away from the unfairness and unhappiness in the real life where they can create a peaceful pure land. However, there are always some fellow players ask you the strange question like "Do you know what's the feeling of suicide? " "Is suicide painful enough? No, because i have ever tried" "How about going to another world, there's  no one disturb us " "Are you tired? Drugs can help" etc.

positive energy from browser games

Yes, we really tired, but we never thought of abandoning our life. We indeed frustrated by life while it doesn't mean the only choice is to get rid of all the difficulties. Since we were born, we have to shoulder the responsibilities. If only the little setback can defeat you, i think, you are not worth being a people.  You have rights to find a room relaxing but you are guilt  to persuade or to lead people lost on the loop.

I hate such people that always look the dark side of a thing. Since every coin has two sides, why don't look things in a positive angel? Why don't help others with your passion and sunshine? Why don't  just play quiet in the game and just enjoy the leisure? Then why did you go there to disturb others?

positive energy from browser games

Gaming is just a way to relax but not escaping. First, please don't  affect others in the life. Second, don't be affected by others. Third, complaint is useless for everything, the solution accounts the most. Forth, don't forget to be always positive after all the terrible feelings have been swept out. Life really needs the positive energy that you can contribute to.
