Will Free to Play Game be the Main Stream?

Have you ever noticed that the traditional client game developers or publishers are expanding their business to free to play online games on pc end?

Not long before, Blizzard has announced Heroes of the Storm, a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game will soon be opened to the public. This game stopped the close beta in August, 2013 and started  its open beta last year. You have free access to this game but in which way it makes profits? Just like other free to play games, you need to pay for the mount, equipment or skins of a higher degree.
Heroes of the storm by blizzard
Coincidentally, the 343 industries announced yesterday Halo online will begin its close beta exclusively in Russia this spring without clear date specified. This is also a free to play MMO game that 343 industries first tried to release on pc end.
Halo Online
Both Blizzard and 343 industries are big brothers in the game industries but why the traditional client game developers start to dispute the free to play market?

It's easy to gain players on pc and mobile end than on consoles. If only there are net and computer or smartphone, players can start playing games. Since there are uncountable free games was released on pc and smartphones every day, why players choose a "first pay, then play" game? The right strategy I think is to grab enough players first with the game spot then start to consider the profit gaining.

Far more than free to play games will be a trend,  free to play games on the mobile will certainly be the main strategy for the globe developers and publishers. For example, the Chinese game giant 37games is also exploring the mobile game market now.

The universal use of smartphone will certainly bring forth the mobile game development. Will free to play game be the main stream? I think the answer is YES.

Halo Online- Multiplayer PC Version is Coming to Russia

halo online- the multiplayer pc version is coming to Russia
343 industries has announced today the free to play multiplayer game "Halo Online" will soon starts its close beta in Russia. Halo online is designed a totally new pc experience tailored for Russian gamers. The game is set on a secret UNSC space stationed called “Anvil” where Spartan-IV soldiers train for battle and test brand new experimental technology. Close beta for this game was planned to released in later Spring this year in Russia but the specific date has not been announced yet.

As 343 industries revealed that halo online was built from the ground up as a MMO since they have no plans ever to bring it to Xbox One.

For 343 industries, it is a learning opportunity for exploring the ways to welcome new fans to the “Halo” universe. During the closed beta, the gameplay, features and the in-game economy will be continuously adjusted and modified.

" Right now our focus is on learning as much as we can from the closed beta period in Russia. Theoretically, any expansion outside of Russia would have to go through region-specific changes to address player expectations." stated by 343 industries.

Can we just speculate that if halo online succeed in Russia, will 343 industries expand their business on free to play game on pc end worldwide at the same time emphasizes localization in target market? If it does, there is still a long way to go.

Siegelord Fair Reviews

Are you complaining that every SLG you played is just of the same and simple gameplay? You are facing the overwhelming information of game news, reviews, advertorials, advertising and videos and sometimes you can't even tell which viewpoint is fairer. I hope every one of you interested in strategy game can stop for a second and turn your eyes to Siegelord, a new SLG released last December.

I didn’t find Siegelord to be as much of a grind as most other strategy games because it indeed innovate a few things every week.I wasn't online for Siegelord about nearly one week until today for i was on a short tour but I was really surprised by the new update this time. You see, there is a large dice listed on the lower right side. You have six free chances to play it. Which number you played out determines how many steps you can go forward and what resources will you receive. It's just like you are playing the dice game with your partner at desk.

Siegelord update-play dice

Yeah, this is quite new, isn't it? Let's continue.

Three kingdoms of Siegelord

Before you can start the game you are required to choose your belonging of which kingdom you'd like to stay. There are three different nations, and a very nice looking world map to facilitate your choice. After reading a brief description of each nation you will come to the next step of choosing one of four different avatars, and there is probably at least one that fits your personality.

Four avatar for your choice in Siegelord

Unlike in other games that you are only given one plot of buildable land, Siegelord gives you several plots or village, each dedicated to the fabrication of a specific resource. For example one plot will be dedicated to military production while another might be dedicated to wood. Then, of course, you have your standard residences which generate gold. This game differs slightly in the area of settlement in that at the center of your various plots of land, you have a massive palace which you can occupy. The position you hold in said palace will define the amount of resources you receive per hour, and you can always try to move up the food chain a bit if you wish.

All structures are upgradeable, and as you work your way through the available quests, you will be automatically tasked with upgrading them. In the beginning this is easier simply because you have access to an ‘autocomplete’, as well as the ability to upgrade all possible buildings simultaneously. The only thing that keeps you from upgrading all of them is a lack of construction workers which can be remedied.

The game has instances, as you might expect from an MMO like this, and they each contribute to the story. The story, however, is about as clear as mud, and you are simply trying to retake territory. Honestly, the story does not have much to do with the true nature of the game, which we will get to in a moment.

The instances present themselves as villages across a map, and your goal is to take each village using the army you create. You do not create the army directly, but rather recruit generals during battles, and those generals will recruit men to their cause. As you conquer each village, you move closer to the end of the map, and at the very end, you are usually given access to a new general who will be sent to the ‘tavern’ tab.

Dismiss the general in Siegelord

With your army fully recruited you will be able to attack. After you reached certain level, you will be able to choose another stronger general. During each general’s first attack you will have four different choices. You may assault, guard, retreat, or send the general in to cause damage all by themselves. You can let the general automatically fight with their enemy if you don't have enough time manipulating the game but still want to accumulate Exp. I suggest you playing by yourself in that you can indeed apply your intelligence and tactics.

When you apply your tactic, you should use the general power carefully because the general can be chosen only for one time then comes to the three conventional tactics.

Let’s say for example the enemy has chosen the assault tactic. You should either choose to block, or you could choose to assault them head on. Blocking has more of a chance of working properly, but your assault may in fact break theirs. If their tactic is broken, you are automatically awarded the first strike in the battle, which can determine the victory. Still, at some point during the battle, it comes down to sheer numbers and whether or not you have them.

Apply your general power in siegelord

As with any browser-based game today you will need to pay a bit of money if you expect to advance to the endgame. This will mean, of course, buying diamonds which allow you to speed up production and provide you more chances to obtain better equipment. Different level equipment is denoted with varying colors such as blue, green, purple, etc. Your access to these amenities will be allowed a few times every hour, but you will find that you constantly need better equipment to move forward, and for this you may find yourself buying diamond recharge packs to click just ‘one more time’.

While, it seems that how soon you can push your playing of siegelord can't be predicted since it always comes out new content every week that drives you back to the game. In my opinion, the game can be enjoyed without paying if you wish. As a casual player, you would certainly be in luck as me.

One of the most amusing aspects of the game is ‘praying’ for resources. Yes, you heard that right; you can pray for resources and they will be granted to you. You can only pray a certain number of times however before the game will stop you and ask that you purchase more diamonds to continue praying. I assume this is like making a donation to the church.

As I played through the game up to level forty I did find the battles pretty enjoyable, particularly being able to choose the strategy I wanted at the beginning. In some cases I found it more helpful to deploy my general in the middle of the fight rather than at the beginning simply to give myself more of an edge. You can certainly try any tactics you wish when you decide to give Siegelord a try.

As far as I can see, the pro and cons are as follows:
Pros: Endless creation.
         Clear graphics.
         Abundant rewards.
         More intelligence application.
         Strong community.

Cons: Slow upgrade.

I'd like give siegelord a score of 4.6 out of 5.

CIGC Health Concept-Carry Buckets of Coins While Running

The theme of the second CIGC (China International Game Conference) is "Create Competitive Games and Build Healthy Future". To Advocate a healthy life, 37Games gathered lots of game practitioners proceeding the morning jogging on March.7 at Zhuhai China
morning jogging for public benefit at the second CIGC
Recent years, people has been thrown into a seriously polluted environment with the rapid evolution of urbanization and industrialization. Together with the high pace of living, staying close to nature seems having been a wild wish especially for those game practitioners.

As one of the top browser game developers and publishers, 37Games has realized this problem in a very early period. Except organizing people jogging on the morning, 37Games also held a running match at Guangzhou Olympic Sports Center. The rule was that you need to carry buckets of coins while running, all the money will be yours as long as you can finish three kilometers. As one witness said, there were almost 10,000 coins equal to $1,800 in each bucket. "It's really worth trying", many net friends confessed.

More valuable is that other brothers of the game industry together with 37Games published a fund mainly concerning the game practitioners' health at the second CIGC that was just concluded. Through this way, the game practitioners' health gained enough attention from both the game industry and society, getting rid of "converting health to profit".
Fund concerning game practitioners' health has been published
"After we create the value, we need to enjoy the value also. We all desired a happier life", Said 37Games president Zeng Kaitian.

CIGC Review-Mobile Games Growing Trend Exploring

The second China International Game Conference (CIGC)launched and sponsored by 37Games has just concluded on this March 7th at Zhu Hai, China, attracting the active participation from a lot of game companies, game practitioner and media. Except for that many games of high quality has been newly published on this conference, a wonderful speech from CEO Xu Zhigao who is responsible for mobile games of 37Games has been given regarding the mobile game growing status and trend.
CIGC- Mobile games growing trend exploring
Three trends of Chinese mobile games in 2015

More competitive. The quality of the mobile products is growing steadily, bringing back the products themselves become the core competitive factor. As the traditional client and browser game companies also stepped into the mobile game business, it's hard to make a game to be "successful".

If 2014 is the year for publishing, then 2015 will be a year to contend for channels and users. Since one player can play at least two mobile games at the same time, but few players will choose the low quality game since they always have multiple choices. Making the game to be more competitive will be the main task for both the game developers and publishers.

More Open. How to performs well in the field of mobile games will be annotated further. In the near future, the regularity as well as the norms of the mobile game market will be formed without any doubt. At that time, the competitiveness will be centered on a company's comprehensive strength and the cooperation based on the investment and financing relationship will be more common.

More Serious. With the innovation of the mobile game technology and the upgrading of players' terminal device with the optimization of the Internet environment, the serious game will be quickly pushed to market. Accordingly, how to realize the heavy traffic will be a new challenge to us all. As speculated that the action mobile games will be a hot topic in the future.

"Not all the card games are not good enough. There is a big problem for such games. It's maybe successful today but will soon be unpopular tomorrow," Mr.Xu said "But the action game has a new spotlight, it can form a continuous paying. We have reached an internal decision that we won't promote card game this year."

The market always changes and the mobile game regularity will change accordingly. To keep yourself invincible, you have to pay close attention to the market dynamics.

What is CIGC

CIGC, the China International Game Conference sponsored by 37Games was initially held in Shanghai in Mar.7, 2014. It's the annual feast among the gaming industry and will be held once a year on March 7. It is also called "37games Day".

The second conference was confirmed to be held in Zhu Hai, China, focusing on the development and operation on browser and mobile game, IP Resource, New ideas for game marketing and the global market extending. This conference will center on "How to forge browser games of high quality", "How to make the mobile games steadily step into an era of serious games" and " how to create more value through the Cross-boundary business".

It was reported that one of the most popular and influential actress Liu Shishi will present on this conference, bringing it with more vitality. Taking this opportunity, many IP Game from 37Games  will  be published by Miss Liu together with 37Games president Li Yifei.

It's worth mentioning that some games of excellent IP have achieved success globally while both browser and mobile games still face the grim challenge from game developer, operator and players worldwide. By putting ourselves in the game industry, we have to see further than others.

Reports at GDC-Gain Control Over an Increasingly Depressing Work Environment

Reports at GDC-Gain Control Over an Increasingly Depressing Work Environment
What's been going on with the gaming community? Raph Koster, Gordon Walton and Rich Vogel are veterans of the online gaming space, and know a thing or two about how groups form and behave on the internet. At GDC, the three presented important findings for community managers about how to gain control over an increasingly depressing work environment.
We now live in an age where the internet filters results for you based on assumptions about what you're like drawn from geographic location or other patterns. This creates a phenomenon called a "filter bubble," says Koster, where increasingly one's perception of the world is led by online targeting. Your average online user will increasingly see only those news sources and even political candidates that agree with their own views -- and anyone who's ever Facebook-blocked a relative with offensive political views has become complicit in this sort of filtering.
In this climate, says Koster, the common context shared by disparate groups begins to erode, and homogenous groups crystallize. "As noble as we wish we are, we're not -- given the choice, people hang out with people like them," says Koster.
"Given a limited population, over time, not only will we [form] groups that are like us, but the larger group will exterminate the other one," he says. "In simulations, that's what happens: They literally commit genocide, they literally chase everyone else out of the room. It's a distasteful fact about human nature, and if our definition about who we are is rigid, then you're going to have that conflict."
People tend to make assumptions about behavior based on character, when in fact behavior is contextual and based on complex and deeply-felt beliefs. The theory goes that people are most likely to treat another person well when they feel they will see that person again. Trust is established through repeated interactions.
"This is how the world works, and some of this is uncomfortable. We doing community management have to deal with that, and part of the problem is that a lot of this has changed out from under the best practices we talked about 14 years ago," Koster says. "A lot of the things we take for granted as best practices just don't work anymore."
For example, look at what free to play systems have done to the idea of persistent identity in games -- it's rooted in pulling in as many accounts as possible and churning through those that won't turn into paying users, and each time you log in you're part of a different group, with no attachment to your online identity or that of others.
"Without friction of some type, you end up in a place where it's difficult to create a peaceful community," says Walton.
"You can do anything you pretty much want, and that's a problem for communities in free-to-play," adds Vogel.

The disappearing best practices

Our previous ideas about managing online communities or players were rooted in that persistence, the barrier to entry for account creation and maintenance, and systems of reputation and reward for good practices. Those elements are the "good fences that make good neighbors," as the saying goes. If players don't need to be invested in what others think of them, they're less likely to do their part to keep a community healthy.
"In the real world, if you want to be a criminal you go to a big city, not in a town of sixty people," Walton adds. That's why large communities where users are most often anonymous tend to have the biggest culture problems. "What we've seen from the beginning is that scale matters. Everything we're talking about is fundamental human behavior."
Without clear lines and well-bounded communities, people can become confused in a way that leads to conflict. For example, with Kickstarter and Early Access games, users become hostile and controversies arise because the distinction between a "customer" and a "funder", a creator and a user, is indistinct; confusion about different types of roles and relationships within the game industry gave rise to last year's "controversy that shall not be named."
When you look at modern communities, from Twitter and Reddit to Facebook and chan boards, all the best practices -- keeping identity persistent, having a meaningful barrier to entry, specific roles, groups well-bordered and full anonymity at least somewhat difficult -- have been thrown out the window, giving rise to toxicity online, the veterans say.
Facebook has held steadfast against user demand for a "dislike" button, and Koster says this is actually a wise move: The ability to downvote can destroy communities, he believes. Heavily-censured often abandon accounts and start again without consequences or responsibility, and in bigger cases, as with Reddit's brigading wars, people band together to destroy communities they dislike, downvoting them into oblivion.
Mobbing behavior is also an issue online, from online harassment to call-out culture. Mobbing tends to single out those who are different, and working in fields with ambiguous standards increases one's risk of being mobbed. Of course, one person's harassment is another person's activism, and when people band together in opposition to negative behavior, it can be a positive experience for some.
But for community managers, especially in games, mobbing is nearly always a bad sign, Koster warns: "It means you have a civil war on your hands, with heavy-duty consequences. Mobbing hurts a lot: Depression, sleep loss, weight loss, drug abuse, panic attacks... the thing to understand is how serious this can be for a victim," Koster says. "Think about the developers you work with and your own job, and this is part of why the churn rate for community managers is ridiculous. And what happens to your community if you allow this kind of thing to happen?"

What you can do

Perhaps there are no firm solutions just yet. But some things definitely work: Subdividing communities into manageable sizes and subcommunities -- no more than 150 regular commenters per forum, for example. Within subcommunities, minimize the reasons for different groups to be at odds, and offer "good fences" -- proper interfaces among communities, and meta-communities that serve to connect smaller communities. Offering a "honeypot," such as a single "general discussion" space that's allowed to be a nest of bad behavior, helps keep conflict-seeking users entertained and away from the others.
Work around, not against anonymity -- a "pseudonymity" with private reporting channels and persistent logins is preferable. Incentivize positive contributions through some kind of reward or reputation system.
Encouraging downvoting, brigading or other negative feedback loops is a design mistake, the veterans warn. So is driving intentional tribalism -- you want communities to feel strong and proud, but avoid offering ways to create competition within the userbase itself. Instead, emphasize ecological thinking. Failing to provide identity structures that offer common ground among groups is also a "don't."
While it may be difficult, put yourself in the other's shoes. "This is hard, but I think community managers in particular need to investigate the cultures of all the different constituencies that are coming into their game," advises Koster. "Because for better or for worse, you are the translators that need to speak all the languages, and tell them what is okay there."
"Softening language" can be helpful -- phrases like I'm afraid or in my opinion. Speak positively to frustrated people -- "we prefer this type of behavior" is a better tactic to reduce problems than "you're doing something wrong."
Use "I" and "we" statements instead of "you" in general. Find ways to show the other person that you are truly listening to their point of view, like repeating their arguments back or saying "I hear you."
Be firm: "You're in our house and there are rules." This is a way of firmly dealing with users who are acting out, without having to field their accusations of tone-policing. Be sure to have the rules clear and visibly posted -- and be careful that moderating a user won't unecessarily upset too many others and make a situation worse.
And finally, take precautions to protect your own personal information as a matter of self protection: Unlist your numbers, get domain name WHOIS protection, disable your phone's geolocation features, and request removal from databases. This will ensure you're safe if things go wrong and you become a target.
"I don't believe there's such a thing as a private social media presence anymore," Koster says.
"Everything we do gets picked up by the press now, and they consider it PR," adds Vogel. "So there's a real balance about how you manage that internally, and getting approval for what you say on the forums. The time that takes is going to be a hurdle. You're a community now, not making single-product games, and it's a big learning curve for publishers."
"I know this seems like a bummer in the end, and maybe these solutions aren't enough. We live in a rapidly-changing world, and I hope people [like Facebook and Twitter] realize things need to change, that these things have been mis-designed and encourage poor behavior," says Koster. "If you do end up on the pointy end of a mobbing, most of this is not going to be helpful enough. The best advice I have is to disconnect completely, and take care of yourself first. The battle will be there another day."

Dragon Atlas-Raise Your Dragon Quality

While playing dragon atlas, raising dragon quality is one of the fastest methods to get a stronger dragon and to enhance its growth because you can sweep for dragon shards or you can even get X Puppet items that allow you to purchase shards. Green ones are the easiest to obtain and allow the purchase of a lot of your low level shards but only 5 a piece because of easy obtaining. These are used on dragons you get at the earlier points in your game and also for your Ultimate Blue-Eyed Dragon. You got a blue and purple x puppets which allow 10 for each one you have and are used on the more advanced dragons you obtain from harder stages. These are a big help especially when you get your dragons into the Epic, Legendary, and Immortal qualities because they require tons of shards. You can also obtain the shards through sweeping.

Sweeping is the easiest way to gain shards. Levels are eligible to be swept after you’ve fully defeated them once. Each map can be swept 30 times through normal means and consumes AP. You can provide yourself with more opportunities if you spend diamonds on which still consume AP, but offer 50 more chances of sweeping. After you've obtain enough shards you can upgrade them and when you get your dragon to a certain quality it will also activate passive skills.
